This is the first blog for the Socio-Technical Resilience for Targeted Community Healthcare (STRETCH) project.  Thanks to those partners who we met with in the months of January-March. The project officially commenced in April.

Please also see our website https://www.stretchproject.org/ which will be updated as the project progresses.

In our meeting on 17th May we developed and refined our research questions for the project, and made plans to apply for broad ethical approval to conduct the research. We also decided that we will initially engage with a small number of individual older people (and their clinicians and carers), before commencing the more intensive recruitment of long term participants who will be the principal informants in our 3 year project.

Research Questions

  • What is the care architecture (data, information flows, privacy / access control model) that underpins STRETCH?
  • How do we manage dynamic consent requirements as the contexts surrounding consent change?
  • How do we get people to interact with the system to manage their privacy in this cyber-physical system?
  • What are the technologies that people could / would use to support their care?
  • How do we motivate people to join and engage in circles of support?
  • How do we encourage people to take on responsibility for care provision?
  • How to empower carers in their role of supporting the care-recipient?
  • What is the role of social connection data in getting people to engage?
  • Will our cyber-physical care system enable less time spent in/fewer admissions to hospital?
